Woman's Industrial

Mission Statement

Woman's Industrial is a program that started in 1894, and is an outreach program of Union Church's Mission Board. It is a program to teach women homemaking skills and to help with clothing needs.

Woman's Industrial is also a place to talk with women about everyday problems, hopes and dreams. it is a time to learn about quilting, crafts and religion.

When we gather (typical day)

Starting time is at 9:00 a.m. on Fridays

Educational programs are offered 2 to 3 times a month from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Sewing and crafts from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

11:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon Devotional

12:00 noon is a healthy lunch

Following lunch is sorting and clean-up.

Lunch too

We try to provide a healthy lunch.

There is a fee of $1.00 this covers your meal, coffee, and your drink.

For those who cannot afford the fee arrangements are made, therefore everyone eats.

Activities to Learn and Share

Sewing -- if you choose to participate in the sewing program you will learn how to piece quilt tops together. you will also learn how to tack and quilt the quilts together.

Crafts -- there are many different types of crafts to choose from: holiday decorations, latch hook rugs, beaded jewelry and more. All items we make are sold to raise money for the program.

Sorting -- We receive donations of used clothing from people in the community. All participating members get to go through the clothing. The clothing that we do not need is donated to other organizations. There is a drop box outside of Union Church, and all clothing donations are appreciated.

Daycare as well

Daycare is provided for babies and children up to three years of age. This is a free service to women attending the program. The childcare provider has CPR, first aid training and early childhood training.

Holidays are special

The Fridays before Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter we have a potluck dinner. We also try to assist our regular participants with food baskets or gift certificates for the holidays, if funds are available.

Fundraiser

We have holiday and rummage sales to raise money for this program. the money is used to buy sewing and craft supplies. It also helps with the gift baskets. We ask that the women help with the sales.

Invitation to friends and family

We would love for you to come and join Woman's Industrial. Come on in and bring a friend, your mother or grandmother.

May GOD bless you!

We meet in the community room of Union Church.
